Yes, there is a protagonist in this text. I believe that the protagonist is Shukumar even though this text focuses on both him and his wife Shoba. We get more details about Shukumar more than his wife. For example, we learn more about what he does and his feelings throughout this text. While we only know the basics about Shoba. Yes, we do know what she does and how she feels but it doesn’t get as in depth as Shukumar’s parts in this text. Throughout this text we learn how Shukumar feels about different situations and about the different ways he tries to fix these problems. I think the author made this decision in order for us to get in the mindset of at least one of the main characters. This helps us to understand what’s going on from a different standpoint.
